About pacifico
Since 1900, Cerveza Pacífico Clara, better known as Pacifico, has been
crafting a “pilsner-style,” authentic Mexican beer. At the turn of the century, three German settlers opened a brewery, the Cerveceria del
Pacífico, located in the Pacific Ocean port city of Mazatlán in the state of
Sinaloa, México.
The Pacifico Brewery was later acquired by Mexican brewing giant, Grupo Modelo (handling Corona, Modelo, Victoria and Tsingtao to name some additional brands) in 1954. A major turning point in the popularity of this beer in the United States occurred in the 1970’s, when a group of surfers discovered this refreshing beer in the cantinas of the Baja peninsula and hauled back cases of the brew. Its unique packaging and distinctive taste made Pacifico a popular choice among the surfing crowd and adventurous “outdoorsy” personalities, and a slogan attached to the brand soon became “Pacifico Beer, Discovered in Baja, Imported by Surfers.” Grupo Modelo then began exporting this beer to the United States in 1985 with great results. Owned by Grupo Modelo and imported by Crown Imports, LLC. |
